Dr. Gosevs clinical expertise forces on advanced heart failure therapies, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation. He was an essential part in pioneering a less invasive, off-pump implantation of the HeartMate 3 LVAD. Coming to NBI in June of 2024, Dr. Gosev and Dr. Wood performed 17 heart transplants and 26 LVAD implantations in the first 6 months.

Dr. Wood is a recognized leader in the field of LVAD therapy. Her leadership in research and clinical innovation continues to shape the future of mechanical circulatory support.

Cardiac Surgeon at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
Dr Loumiotis specializes in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery and aortic surgery. He is able to perform coronary artery bypass surgery, multi-arterial bypass grafting, aortic valve repair and replacement, valve sparing root surgery, bicuspid valve repair, mitral valve repair and replacement, and trans-catheter valve therapies. He has a special interest and vast experience in treating pathologies in any part of the aorta extending from the aortic root to the aortic bifurcation.

Dr. Wong’s clinical interests include critically ill heart failure patients, intra-op and post-op complex cardiac surgical procedures, mechanical circulatory support Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and left/right ventricular assist devices (VAD). Dr. Wong aims to enhance patient care with evidence-based practices, teamwork, and a patient-centered focus, while fostering a learning environment for residents, fellows, and healthcare professionals.

Dr. Gidea brings more than 20 years of research, innovation, and clinical expertise to the Advanced Heart Failure Treatment and Transplant team at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She has published extensively in the field of heart transplantation and has been a regional leader in establishing programs to increase the availability of organs for donation and allow patients to get transplanted sooner.

Lina Miyakawa, MD, recently transitioned from Mount Sinai to join RWJBarnabas Health as the Medical Director of Critical Care for Newark Beth Israel (NBI). NBI is a prominent quaternary hospital with over 300 beds, more than 20% of which are ICU beds. Notable programs at NBI include ECMO, heart transplants, and lung transplants.

With experience, his long-term goal is to impact patients at a global level to ensure all patients have access to medications.
